AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE END CLUTCH IMPROVEMENTS

PURPOSE
This bulletin contains information about improved automatic transaxle end clutch parts introduced for 4-speed (4A/T) automatic transaxles. These new
parts have added durability allowing the clutch disks to last longer.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

The clutch face material has been changed on the end clutch disks for added durability for the listed 4-speed automatic transaxles.

AFFECTED VEHICLES
All vehicles equipped with the following automatic transaxles:

4A/T- F4A21 (1991-92 Mirage)

F4A22 (1989-93 Galant, 1990-94 Eclipse, 1992-96 Mirage, 1992-95 Expo LRV)
F4A23 (1989-9O Sigma, 1992-95 Expo, 1993 Expo LRV 1994-98 Galant)
F4A33 (1992-96 Diamante, 1991-98 3000GT, 1995-98 Eclipse)
W4A32 (1989-92 Galant [AWD], 1992-93 Expo/Expo LRV [AWD])
W4A33 (1991-98 Eclipse GSX)

PRODUCTION INFORMATION
Clutch disk face material was changed during production according to the following schedule:

F4A21/22/23: Beginning April 23, 1997
F4A33: Beginning April 22, 1997
W4A33: Beginning April 22, 1997

PARTS INFORMATION

The new style end clutch plates can be identified by the color of the friction material on the clutch facing. The old-style facing material is brown whereas
the new-style is black. 

The part numbers for the old-style end clutch plates are superseded to the new part numbers.
