SUNROOF INOPERATIVE
PURPOSE
On some affected vehicles, the sunroof may become inoperative, remaining in the open position. This condition is likely due to water traveling over the
sunroof drive cables and damaging the sunroof control unit.
To eliminate this condition and help to prevent future reoccurrence, apply a water insoluble grease to the sunroof drive cables, apply butyl rubber to the
guide rail and guide rail rod holder, and replace the sunroof control unit.
AFFECTED VEHICLES
1995-96 Eclipse models produced between May, 1995 and January, 1996.

Includes control unit replacement, drive cable removal and grease application. Drive cable replacement on an as needed basis only.
Procedure
1.
Remove the front section of the headliner assembly as described in section 52A of the appropriate Eclipse service manual.
NOTE:
Refer to pages 42-65 through 42-70 of the 1996 Eclipse service manual for details on sunroof component removal and installation.
2.
Remove the sunroof control unit.
3.
Remove the sunroof glass.
4.
Confirm proper sunroof drainage at the drain holes by pouring a small amount of water into the front of the sunroof. If the water does not flow
through easily, remove any leaves or other debris from the drain holes.
5.
Manually close the sunroof frame.
