A TIMING BELT REMOVAL
1. Mark the belt running direction for reference in reinstallation.
NOTE:
1. Water or oil on the belt shorten its life drastically, so the removed timing belt, sprocket, and tensioner must be free from oil and water.
These parts should not be washed. Replace parts if seriously contaminated.
2. If there is oil or water on each part check front case oil seals, camshaft oil seal and water pump for leaks.
2. Back off the tensioner spring mounting bolt three turns.
3. Pinching the end of the tensioner spring on the tensioner side with pliers, unhook it from the bracket hook on the tensioner to free the tensioner
spring.
4. Loosen the tensioner mounting bolt and remove the timing belt.
