DOOR TRIM DEFROSTER GARNISH
PURPOSE
On some affected vehicles, the door trim defroster garnish(es) may become cracked. To eliminate this condition, replace it with a new wider, sturdier
garnish. Refer to the PARTS INFORMATION section of this bulletin for replacement garnish part numbers.
This bulletin contains door trim defroster garnish replacement procedures.
AFFECTED VEHICLES
1996-97 Eclipse models equipped with power windows
PROCEDURE
To replace the door trim defroster garnish:
1.
Remove the door trim panel as described in Section 42 of the appropriate Eclipse service manual.
2.
To access the defroster garnish, remove the defroster duct work from the door trim panel.
3.
Remove the two plastic ducts from the door trim panel by removing three nuts.
4.
Remove the two phillips-head screws securing the garnish to the trim panel substrate (material underneath the trim vinyl).
! CAUTION
Do not apply excessive force with the screwdriver. Using too much force will damage the trim panel substrate (material underneath the trim vinyl)
and require the door trim to be replaced.
