Loosen the four knuckle mounting bolts 1/2 turn.
Then, while making sure the bearing is seated against the knuckle, tighten only one of the mounting bolts to 88 Nm (65 ft/lbs).

Use a 0.20 mm feeler gauge to check the clearance between the knuckle mounting surface and the flange face on the bearing, at all four bolted
corners:
a.
If a 0.20 mm feeler gauge cannot be easily slipped between the knuckle and the bearing flange at any of the four corners, the bearing does
NOT require replacement. Go to Step 10.
b.
If a 0.20 mm feeler gauge can be easily slipped between the knuckle and the bearing flange at any of the four corners, the bearing unit must
be replaced. Install the new hub/bearing/rotor assembly listed in the PARTS INFORMATION section of this bulletin.
IMPORTANT:
A vehicle may have a good bearing on one side and a bad bearing on the other side.
Be sure to inspect both sides as described in Step 9. Replace a bearing if it fails the inspection.

Tighten all bearing mounting bolts to 88 +/- 10 Nm (65 +/- ft/lbs).

Reassemble the knuckle, using the paint mark made in Step 5 for proper orientation of the bolts. Tighten the nut side of the knuckle assembly to
300 +/- 24 Nm (221+/- 18 ft/lbs).
12.
Ensure the face of the hub and inside hub area of the rotor are clean. Remove any dirt or rust.
13.
Reinstall the rotor, aligning the marked rotor hole with the marked stud. Tighten the axle nuts to 226 +/- 29 Nm (167 +/- 21 ft/lbs).
14.
Reinstall the driveshaft nut, using a new cotter pin. Refer to the appropriate service manual for brake and wheel reassembly procedures and torque
specifications.
15.
If a new hub/beanng/rotor assembly has been installed, inspect the brake pad for excessive wear condition. If the pad thickness is less than 2 mm
(0.08 in.), replace both front brake pads.
