Sunroof / Moonroof Track: All Technical Service Bulletins
Body - Sunroof Binding On Opening or Closing

No.: TSB-02-42A-019
DATE: December, 2002
MODEL: 2003 Eclipse

SUBJECT:
SUNROOF JUDDER / LACK OF GREASE

PURPOSE

Judder during sunroof opening or closing may be due to lack of lubrication at the sunroof housing rails. For smooth sunroof operation, it is critical that
grease is applied to both the top and the underside of the rails. Sunroof grease may not have been applied sufficiently at the factory.

NOTE

If there is a small "bounce" after the initial pop-up movement when opening the sunroof, this is NOT a judder condition. It is a normal characteristic
that varies from vehicle to vehicle.

PROCEDURE

NOTE:

Do not initially order new drive cable assemblies or a new sunroof to eliminate judder.

Apply sunroof grease first to see if the judder can be eliminated without parts replacement.

1.

Apply sunroof grease (listed in the PARTS INFORMATION section of this bulletin) to the top and underside of the sunroof housing rails.

2.

Open and close the sunroof several times to disperse the grease into the assembly. Check the sunroof operation to confirm the judder is eliminated.

3.

If the customer returns with a sunroof judder complaint, refer to Steps 3 through 34 of TSB-02-42A-005 for sunroof repair information.
