SUBJECT:
PCM REPROGRAMMING FOR HOT SOAK REST
AND/OR ROUGH IDLE (DTC P0300-P0306)
PURPOSE
Incorrect PCM software parameters may cause a hot soak restart and rough idle condition within 30 minutes of engine shutdown. Diagnostic Trouble
Code(s) P0300 through P0306 may set. Other possible symptoms are fuel pump noise or rough idle with no DTCs set.
To eliminate this condition, reprogram the PCM and replace the thermostat valve as described in this bulletin. Refer to the PARTS INFORMATION
section of this bulletin for the replacement thermostat part number.
AFFECTED VEHICLES
2000-2003 Eclipse models equipped with V6 engine, except 2003 Eclipse GTS with variable induction
2001-2002 Eclipse Spyder models equipped with V6 engine (NOT variable induction)

Procedure
CAUTION
BATTERY VOLTAGE (AS MEASURED AT THE BATTERY POSTS WITHOUT ELECTRICAL LOAD) MUST BE 12.4V OR HIGHER IN
ORDER TO REPROGRAM THE PCM.
1.
Check the underside of the hood to verify that there is no label previously installed to indicate that this TSB reprogramming has already been done.
2.
Use the MUT-II to erase all DTCs set in the PCM.
