PCM REPROGRAMMING FOR
HIGH SPEED MISFIRE (DTC P0300-P0306)

This TSB supercedes TSB-03-13-004, issued February 2003, to include manual transmission models, a new reprogramming database and MUT-III
reprogramming procedures.

PURPOSE

Due to incorrect PCM software parameters, the MIL ("SERVICE ENGINE SOON" light) may come on and Diagnostic Trouble Code(s) P0300 through
P0306 may set when driving over 70 mph (113 kph) at wide open throttle. Typically, this condition occurs in cold ambient temperatures when the
transaxle is shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear. To eliminate this condition, reprogram the PCM as described in this bulletin.

AFFECTED VEHICLES

2003-04 Eclipse GTS and Eclipse Spyder GT and GTS models equipped with V6 variable induction engine (both A/T and M/T)

PROCEDURE

CAUTION

BATTERY VOLTAGE (AS MEASURED AT THE BATTERY POSTS WITHOUT ELECTRICAL LOAD) MUST BE 12.4V OR HIGHER IN
ORDER TO REPROGRAM THE PCM.

1.

Check the underside of the hood to verity that there is no label previously installed to indicate that this TSB reprogramming has already been done.

2.

Verify that the vehicle's PCM part number is listed in the table in Step 10.

a.

Verity whether the PCM ROM ID is the same as the ROM ID listed in the table in Step 10. If the ROM ID is the same as or higher than the
ROM ID in the table, the PCM has already been reprogrammed for this concern.

3.

Use the MUT-III to erase all DTCs set in the PCM.

4.

Verify that your MUT-III has the most current version of the reprogramming database:

a.

Select "Special Function", then select "ECU Reprogramming."

b.

Select "Database File Display". The database version is displayed in the top right corner of the screen. Make sure the database version is
N04031 or greater.

c.

If the database version is less than N04031, go to Step 5.

d.

If the database version is N04031 or greater, go to Step 8.

5.

Turn the ignition key to OFF and disconnect the MUT-III.
