Eclipse FWD L4-1997cc 2.0L DOHC MFI (1997)
2. Use the end yolk holder tool No. MB990767, or equivalent, so that the camshaft sprockets do not turn, while removing sprockets.
3. Loosen the camshaft bearing cap attaching fasteners in sequence shown in the illustration (one camshaft at a time).
4. Identify the camshafts before removing from the head. The camshafts are not interchangeable.
INSTALLATION
1. Follow the removal procedure in reverse order noting the following.
2. Insert a piece of wood between a garage jack and the engine oil pan, and jack up the engine to set the camshaft oil seal installation tools Nos.
MD998713 and MB991554, or equivalents.
3. Install the camshaft seal into the cylinder head until it is flush with the head.
4. Install the camshaft bearing caps in the order shown in the illustration.
5. Use a suitable tool to stop the camshaft from turning, and then install the intake and exhaust camshaft sprockets.
