Drive Belt: Adjustments
Alternator

1. Remove the under cover side panel (R.H.).
2. Loosen the generator pivot nut. 
3. Loosen the lock nut. 
4. Turn the adjusting screw to adjust the belt tension or, deflection to within specifications listed below.

NOTE:
-

When installing a new belt, apply 310 N (70 lbs.) of tension for 5 minutes or more, and then apply the final tension.

The tension for a new belt is 490 - 712 N (110 - 160 lbs.) and a used belt is 400 - 490 N (90 - 110 lbs.).

The deflection (reference value) for a new belt is 7.5 - 10.5 mm (0.30 - 0.41 inch) and a used belt is 9.0 - 12.0 mm (0.35 - 0.47 inch). 

5. Tighten the generator pivot nut to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.). 
6. Tighten the lock nut to 61 Nm (45 ft. lbs.). 
7. Install the under cover side panel (R.H.).
