SUBJECT:
DTC 58 - INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR HARNESS
PURPOSE
On some affected vehicles, the CHECK ENGINE light may come on and Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) 58 may set due to a breakage in the wiring
harness at the air intake temperature sensor connector (A-57).
This bulletin describes how to install a new pre-wired connector to correct this condition.
AFFECTED VEHICLES
1995-97 Eclipse models equipped with 2.0L non-turbocharged engine
PROCEDURE
1.
Locate the air intake temperature sensor and its connector A-57 at the back side of the intake manifold.
2.
Carefully inspect the condition of the wiring harness at connector A-57. The wires could be damaged inside the connector and/or under the wire
insulation.
a.
If the wiring harness is not damaged, STOP. Do not continue with this procedure. Refer to the troubleshooting procedure for DTC 58 in
Group 13A of the appropriate service manual.
b.
If the wiring harness is damaged, continue with Step 3.
3.
Remove connector A-57 from the wiring harness.
4.
Solder a new connector (listed in the PARTS INFORMATION section of this bulletin) to the wiring harness. Attach the black/green wire to
terminal A. Attach the brown/blue wire to terminal B.
5.
After soldering the wires, apply 3M Electrical Moisture Sealant 06149 or equivalent around the solder joints.
