Wheel Bearing: Adjustments

1. Inspect play of bearings while vehicle is jacked up and resting on floor jack.
2. Remove hub cap, then release parking brake.
3. Remove caliper assembly and brake disc, then measure bearing endplay.
4. Placing dial gauge against hub surface, move hub in axial direction and check for endplay.
5. Endplay should be 0.004 inch or less; if greater, the locknut should be tightened to specification and endplay measured again.
6. Replace rear hub bearing unit if an adjustment cannot be made to within limit.
