SUBJECT:
REROUTING OF CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR HARNESS - SAFETY RECALL CAMPAIGN
PURPOSE
Mitsubishi Motor Sales of America, Inc. (MMSA) is voluntarily recalling affected vehicles for possible crankshaft position sensor harness damage. This
safety recall bulletin contains instructions for rerouting the crankshaft position sensor harness to prevent damage to the harness caused by the sharp edge
of the heat protector. The crankshaft position sensor wiring harness on the vehicle may contact an engine compartment heat shield. Prolonged wiring
harness contact with the heat shield will cause the wiring insulation to wear and eventually to ground out. This will cause the engine to die-out and could
cause an accident without warning.
AFFECTED VEHICLES
This safety recall campaign should be performed on all affected vehicles built up to July 25, 2000.
Check each vehicle's VIN on the Warranty SuperScreen to verify the vehicle is included in the campaign.
This recall affects only vehicles equipped with the 2.4L, 4-cylinder (4G64) engine.
