NOTE:
Tightening the rear screws to a higher value than specified may cause the threads in the sunroof housing to become partially or fully stripped. To allow
repair of these vehicles without replacing the sunroof assembly, a repair screw has been developed. This repair screw is a larger diameter, self-tapping
type. It should be used only when the threads of the sunroof housing for the rear screws have stripped. Step 4 is only necessary if using a repair screw.
4. If either rear attachment screw cannot be torqued to specification due to stripped threads in the sunroof housing, use repair screws (5850A228) in both
REAR mounting hole location(s) only. They should be installed without any modification to the sunroof.
DO NOT USE THE REPAIR SCREW AT OTHER LOCATIONS.
WHEN INSTALLING REPAIR SCREWS, ALWAYS REPLACE BOTH REAR SCREWS AT THE SAME TIME.
Torque the repair screw to 5 +/- 0.7 Nm (44 +/- 6 in/lb).
5. Test drive the vehicle to ensure a complete and satisfactory repair. Operate the sunroof several times in tilt and fully open modes during the test drive.
Recheck the fit when completed.
NOTE:
For 2007 model year only: Confirm correct appearance and installation of the headliner and headliner trim at the sunroof opening. Refer to
TSB-07-52A-003 for repair information.
