Endeavor V6-3.8L SOHC (2004)
A letter will be sent to all owners of affected vehicles requesting them to bring their vehicle to their Mitsubishi Motors dealer to have the fuel filler pipe
inspected and possibly replaced. A copy of the customer notification letter is shown in this bulletin.
REQUIRED OPERATIONS
Before starting this campaign procedure, CHECK ON THE WARRANTY SUPERSCREEN to verify that the vehicle is an affected VIN for this
campaign and that this campaign procedure has not already been completed.
WARNING
^ Gasoline is extremely flammable and explosive. The vehicle should be in a well-ventilated area.
^ Make certain that no ignition sources (i.e. pilot lights, cigarettes and lighters, electrical motors and switches, etc.) are near the repair area.
^ Be sure that fire extinguishers are located in the immediate repair area.
^ Wipe up any gasoline spills immediately.
INSPECTION PROCEDURE
This inspection requires the following equipment:
^ Spray bottle with soap and water mixture
^ Spray bottle with plain clear water
^ Scotch-Brite(TM) or equivalent cleaning pad
^ Masking tape
^ Small mirror
^ Compressed air
^ Clean shop towels
1. Be sure the ignition key is turned to the OFF position.
Remove the fuel filler cap and remove the 3 bolts securing the fuel filler pipe flange. Inspect the color of the pipe below the flange.
IF THE FUEL FULLER PIPE IS GREEN (NOT BLACK) REPLACE THE FUEL FILLER PIPE ASSEMBLY AS DESCRIBED IN THE FUEL
FILLER PIPE REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE SHOWN IN THIS BULLETIN.
