If any of the center yoke flange bolts are loose or missing, replace the propeller shaft assembly, using the shaft listed in the PARTS
INFORMATION section of this bulletin. Refer to Group 25 in the service manual for propeller shaft replacement procedures.
b.
If none of the center yoke flange bolts are loose or missing, replace the bolts and nuts, using the bolt and nut kit listed in the PARTS
INFORMATION section of this bulletin. Continue with Step 4 for replacement instructions.
4.
Remove and replace the four yoke flange bolts, one at a time. in the correct sequence, as shown.
CAUTION:
Remove and replace only one bolt at a time. Removing more than one at a time may allow the shaft to move out of alignment and result in
vibration when driving.
a.
Make a paint mark on all four center yoke flange bolts, to identify the original bolts.
b.
Use brake cleaner to remove grease, oil and dirt from the bolt seating surfaces. After cleaning, dry those areas thoroughly.
c.
Use the new bolts and nuts listed in the PARTS INFORMATION section of this bulletin.
CAUTION:
YOU MUST USE A DIAL TYPE OR BEAM TYPE TORQUE WRENCH. DO NOT USE A CLICK TYPE OR BREAKAWAY TYPE
TORQUE WRENCH, WHICH WILL RESULT IN STRIPPING THE BOLT. DO NOT USE A SCREWDRIVER TO HOLD THE
