Oil Pump: Service and Repair
Inspection

1. Check gear contacting surface of front case and oil pump cover for step wear. If wear is evident, replace front case.
2. Check silent shaft journals for wear and damage. If excessive damage or wear is evident, check bearing. If necessary, replace silent shaft and/or

bearing.

3. Inspect oil pump as follows:

a. Assemble oil pump gear in front case and rotate gear to ensure smooth rotation with no looseness.
b. Ensure no ridge wear exists on contact surface between front case and gear surface of oil pump cover.
c. Ensure side clearance is 0.0031-0.0055 inch for drive gear and 0.0024-0.0047 inch for driven gear.
