EGR Temperature Sensor: Description and Operation
EGR Temperature Sensor Location
PURPOSE
The EGR temperature sensor monitors whether or not the EGR valve is operating.
LOCATION
On the EGR valve on the EGR valve, at the back of the intake manifold.
OPERATION
The sensor uses a thermistor whose resistance changes in response to temperature. The greater the temperature the lower the resistance. The ECU
compares the resistance value to a preprogrammed map in its memory. It compares the signal to this map to confirm that the EGR valve is operating. It is
used for self-diagnosis purposes only.
