Remove the snap ring that retains the wheel bearing in the control arm. Remove two of the backing plate retaining bolts at opposite corners and in
their place install the two posts of Special Tool MIT217874.

Install the tool's bridge and forcing screw, center them, and screw adapter 217888 on the opposite end of the forcing screw. The adapter should be
installed so that the stepped face centers on the bearing. Pull out the bearing and discard it.

Remove the two posts of MIT217874 and reinstall the backing plate bolts. Torque them to 55 Nm (40 ft-lbs.).

Install a new bearing using the forcing screw of Special Tool MIT217874 and two adapters. Adapter 310868 slides onto the forcing screw. Its
stepped diameter fits into the bearing bore. After the forcing screw is inserted through the bearing bore, screw Adapter 217889 to the inboard end
of the forcing screw and pull the bearing into the lower arm until it is firmly seated. Install the snap ring to hold the bearing in place.

The same tool, MIT217874, is also used to reinstall the hub. To do this, slip Adapter 310868 onto the forcing screw with its shallow step facing
the hub as shown in the illustration. Then insert the forcing screw through the bearing bore, screw on Adapter 217889, and use the forcing screw to
