Brake Master Cylinder: Service and Repair

Removal and Installation
1. Disconnect brake fluid sensor electrical connector from master cylinder reservoir.
2. Position a drain pan under master cylinder.
3. On models with separately mounted reservoir, disconnect reservoir hoses from the master cylinder.
4. Disconnect brake lines from the master cylinder. Plug all lines and fittings.
5. Remove master cylinder to brake booster attaching nuts.
6. Pull master cylinder outward and away from brake booster.
7. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Prior to master cylinder installation, adjust brake booster pushrod as described under Adjustments.
b. Bleed master cylinder and hydraulic system.
