Axle Shaft Assembly: Overhaul

1.

Wrap masking tape on splined end of driveshaft prior to removing joint boot.

2.

On Double Offset Joint (DOJ) type joints, proceed as follows:
a. Make alignment marks on DOJ inner race and cage.
b. Remove DOJ cage from inner race by turning cage in a clockwise direction looking at end of driveshaft.
c. Using a suitable brass drift, tap DOJ inner race off driveshaft.

Reverse procedure to assemble, noting the following:
a. Align mating marks made during disassembly.
b. When installing joint boots ensure distance between clamps is as shown in Fig. 7.
c. Install dynamic damper from outer joint dimension shown in Fig. 8.
