1.
Raise and support vehicle.
2.
Remove trailing arm in numbered sequence shown in Fig. 15, noting the following:
a. Remove rear brake assembly and suspended brake assembly from frame using suitable wire.
b. Using end yoke holder tool No. MB990767 or equivalent, remove rear axle shaft self locking nut.
c. Using a suitable puller, remove rear axle shaft.
d. Using ball joint remover tool No. MB991113-01 or equivalent, disconnect upper and lower ball joint from knuckle. Loosen do not remove
ball joint nut.
3.
Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Temporarily assemble rear axle shaft to trailing arm.
b. Install companion flange to rear axle shaft then install self locking nut.
c. Hold rear axle shaft with holder tool, and tighten the locknut.
