DOOR TRIM PANEL MAP POCKET BUZZ OR NOISE WITH AUDIO UNIT AT HIGH VOLUME OR BASS
PURPOSE
Some customers may report a noise or buzz from either front door speaker. Contact between corner tabs of the map pocket and "+" shaped standoffs on
the door trim panel may cause a buzz or rattle noise during audio unit play.
This Technical Service Bulletin provides instructions to add felt insulation and insure other door components are securely fastened.

2004-09 Galant
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Confirm the noise is coming from the area of the door trim map pocket.
^ Adjust the audio settings to maximum bass.
^ Adjust fade and balance to the suspect speaker.
^ Select music with a lot of bass.
^ While noise is heard, press against the door panel at the front and rear areas of the door pocket.
^ If the noise stops, proceed with steps to insulate the affected areas indicated in the photo.
2. Remove the affected inner door trim. Refer to the service manual for details.
NOTE:
For 2007 and later vehicles, remove the reflector lens at the rear of the door trim to remove one retaining screw.
3. Recheck for speaker noise.
^ Adjust audio settings to maximum bass.
