SERVICE INFORMATION
This bulletin is published to emphasize the importance of keeping the proper concentration of coolant mixture (anti-freeze/water) in the cooling system.
If the coolant mixture concentration is higher or lower than what is specified in the Service Manual, the cooling capability of the system can be adversely
affected as follows.
Lower Than Specified Concentration
If the coolant mixture concentration is lower than specified (less than 30% anti-freeze), the anti-corrosion additives in the anti-freeze will not be
activated. This may cause corrosion in the radiator and reduce cooling system performance.
Higher Than Specified Concentration
If the coolant mixture concentration is higher than specified (more than 60% anti-freeze), the high concentration of anti-corrosion additives may cause
deposits to form in the cooling system. This will reduce the coolant's capability to remove heat from the combustion chamber walls. The high
concentration of anti-freeze will also raise the freezing point temperature in the cooling system.
COOLANT MIXTURE RECOMMENDATION
The recommended coolant mixture (anti-freeze/ water) for all Mitsubishi vehicles is 50/50. In addition, the coolant mixture concentration should never
be less than 30% anti-freeze and never more than 60% according to Table 1.
RECOMMENDED COOLANT
Use a high quality ethylene-glycol anti-freeze that is compatible with aluminum engine parts. Do not add any corrosion inhibitors or additives to the
radiator. DO NOT mix different brands of anti-freeze.
COOLING SYSTEM MAINTENANCE
The cooling system should be drained and flushed every 2 years or 30,000 miles. The old coolant should not be reused. Refill the system with a fresh
mixture of pure water and high quality anti-freeze according to the mixture recommendation above.
