Most Mitsubishi Motors' vehicles have either a "sock" type or a "cage" type fuel filter. Refer to the illustration.
IMPORTANT NOTICE:
All warranty returned electric fuel pumps are tested for normal operation. If the only problem on returned fuel pumps is a clogged fuel filter, the
warranty claim will be denied.
WARNING:
Observe all Service Manual precautions, warnings, and instructions while servicing the fuel system.
NOTE:
Each vehicle's fuel pump is slightly different, but fuel pump filter replacement procedures are similar for all models.
1.
Remove the fuel pump from the fuel tank. Since this step requires releasing pressure in the fuel lines, draining the fuel tank, and possibly removing
the tank from the vehicle, refer to the appropriate vehicles' Service Manual for instructions.
2.
With the fuel pump on a work bench, carefully dislodge the fuel pump motor from the pump bracket. On some fuel pumps, it is necessary to
remove the lower bracket clamp to dislodge the pump motor.
