PURPOSE
The idle switch adjustment procedure in the 1988 Galant Sigma Service Manual has been clarified. This bulletin contains instructions for updating the
Service Manual and performing the adjustment more positively.
INSTRUCTIONS
Please cross out the information on adjusting the Idle Switch (Fixed SAS) Adjustment as shown in the illustration below and write the TSB number in
the box at the bottom of Page 14-21 to refer the reader to this Service Bulletin. A revised adjusting procedure for the Idle Switch (Fixed SAS) is given on
Page 2 of this bulletin.
IDLE SWITCH (FIXED SAS) - REVISED ADJUSTING PROCEDURE
(1)
Loosen the accelerator cable.
(2)
Disconnect the idle switch (fixed SAS) connector.
(3)
Loosen the idle switch (fixed SAS) lock nut.
(4)
Loosen the idle switch (fixed SAS) by turning it counterclockwise. Then fully close the throttle valve.
Caution

Be sure to close the throttle valve fully.
(5)
Connect a circuit tester (ohm range) between the idle switch terminal and the body.
(6)
Tighten the idle switch (fixed SAS) until the touch point is obtained where the idle switch is "ON" (continuity is established between the switch
terminal and throttle body). And then further tighten the idle switch 1-1/4 turn from that point.
