PURPOSE
If the driver's side power window switch on an early production 1989 Galant does not operate, it may be due to a tab on the switch rocker that is too
long. This bulletin describes a field fix that makes it unnecessary to replace the entire switch.

DESCRIPTION
The rocker in the switch has a tab which limits the travel of the rocker. If the tab (Figure 1) is too long, the switch cannot make contact. The field fix is to
snip or file off a portion of the tab.

PROCEDURE
1.
With a plastic trim tool, carefully pry up the front of the power window switch assembly to remove it from the arm rest. Figure 2.
NOTE:
There is no need to disconnect the connector.
2.
Remove four screws to separate the switch cover from the switch body. Figure 2.
3.
Without removing the switch rocker from the body, take .030" - .050" off the plastic tab, using side-cutting pliers or a file.
4.
Test the switch for proper operation. If OK, reassemble and reinstall the switch. If not, replace it.
