Headliner - Sags Out of Sunroof Trim

No: TSB-00-52A-009

DATE: November, 2000

MODEL: 1999-2001 Galant

SUBJECT:
HEADLINER SAGGING OUT OF SUNROOF TRIM

PURPOSE
This bulletin contains repair procedures to correct a condition where the headliner may sag out of the sunroof trim.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Symptom
Air may get behind the headliner during vehicle operation with the sunroof open. The headliner may then come loose from the sunroof trim and sag,
making the edge of the headliner visible.

Remedy
Repairing this condition involves installing dual-lock fastener between the sunroof chassis and the headliner at the rear of the sunroof.

AFFECTED VEHICLES
1999-2001 Galant equipped with factory installed sunroof built before 10/23/00

PROCEDURE

1.

Remove the trim around the perimeter of the sunroof.

2.

Pull down carefully on the headliner at the rear center of the sunroof opening to create a gap large enough to access the sunroof chassis for
dual-lock installation.

3.

Wipe the area on the sunroof chassis where the dual-lock is to be installed, as indicated in the illustration, with isopropyl alcohol to promote
adhesion
