REAR DOOR WINDOW SASH REPLACEMENT AND REAR DOOR LATCH COVER REMOVAL 

PURPOSE

During recent Side Impact New Car Assessment Program (SINCAP) tests conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)
the left rear door on the 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer came unlatched following the side impact. During SINCAP testing the test vehicle is struck directly on
the front driver and rear passenger doors by a barrier weighing more than 3000 pounds and moving at more than 38 mph. While the 2008 Lancer meets
and exceeds all of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) the SINCAP test is a more severe test than required by the FMVSS.

While the 2008 Lancer meets or exceeds the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards in every respect Mitsubishi has made design and production
changes to help ensure the door latch remains latched even when tested to the more severe SINCAP criteria. This customer satisfaction campaign
requires the replacement of both the right and left side rear door window sash with a new sash that will help prevent the door latch from opening in the
event of a severe side collision. It also requires the removal of a black resin cover from the door latch assembly.

AFFECTED VEHICLES

2008 Lancer produced on or before May 11 2007 prior to the VINs shown.

CUSTOMER NOTIFICATION

A letter will be sent to all owners of affected vehicles telling them to bring their vehicle to their Mitsubishi Motors dealer to have both the left AND right
side rear door window sash replaced. A copy of the customer notification letter is shown in this bulletin.

REQUIRED OPERATIONS

Before starting the PROCEDURE section of this bulletin CHECK THE WARRANTY SUPERSCREEN to verify that the vehicle is an affected VIN for
this campaign and that this campaign procedure has not already been completed. Dealers must repair any affected vehicles in their inventory prior to sale.

If the vehicle displays a circular sticker with a Mitsubishi emblem on the inside of the LH rear quarter glass this indicates that the campaign procedure
has been completed prior to the vehicle being shipped from the factory. The stickers will be used until May 31, 2007 to indicate early production
vehicles that do not require repair. Do not repair these vehicles, or any Lancer built after May 31, 2007.
