MIL ILLUMINATION - DTC P2100 THROTTLE
ACTUATOR CONTROL MOTOR CIRCUIT - OPEN

PURPOSE

in rare cases, some affected vehicles may have a MIL illumination and DTC P2100 Throttle Actuator Motor Circuit - Open stored due to a motor coil
short-circuit in the throttle body. There may also be other DTCs (P0123, P0222, P0638, P1241, P2101) stored in memory in addition to P2100. Certain
parameters in the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) can create a condition where current flowing to the motor coil in the throttle body will result in a
Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) motor coil short-circuit. This damages the circuits in the throttle body, leading to an open circuit within the assembly.

This condition is limited to vehicles equipped with F1CJA CVT transaxle. This reprogramming procedure will change the parameters in the PCM to
prevent this condition. As DTC P2100 may have been set by a shorted throttle body assembly, you will also replace the throttle body after
reprogramming.

REQUIRED OPERATIONS

OVERVIEW

This procedure covers the following operations:

1.

Check for ALL DTCs.

2.

Read and record all DTCs stored in PCM memory. DO NOT replace the throttle body prior to conducting PCM Reprogramming.

3.

Reprogramming the PCM with new software parameters.

4.

Replacement of the throttle body assembly. Refer to the service manual for replacement procedures.

5.

Check for ALL DTCs. If DTCs are recorded in memory, diagnose and repair per the service manual.

The following equipment is needed to reprogram the PCM.

MEDIC II Download at M167 or higher.

PRELIMINARY STEPS

1.

Check the underside of the hood to verify that there is no label previously installed to indicate that this reprogramming has already been done.
