Oil Pan: Service and Repair

On some models, it may be necessary to remove engine from vehicle to gain access to oil pan.

1. Raise and support vehicle, remove engine splash pan, if equipped, then drain crankcase into appropriate container.
2. Remove oil pressure sender unit, if necessary.
3. Remove oil pan bolts, then the oil pan using gasket cutter tool No. MD998727, or equivalent, to break seal of oil pan gasket.
4. Remove oil pump pickup, if necessary.
5. Reverse procedure to install, noting following:

a. Tighten oil pump pickup bolts to specifications.
b. Tighten oil pan bolts to specifications.
