Neutral Safety Switch: Adjustments

The following procedure has been revised by a Technical Service Bulletin.
1. Set parking brake and place gear selector lever in Neutral position.
2. Loosen transaxle control cable to manual control lever coupling nut to allow lever to move freely.
3. Place manual control lever in its neutral position, then loosen park/neutral position switch mounting bolts.
4. Rotate switch body until holes in flange and manual control lever are aligned, Fig. 9, then torque switch mounting bolts to 8 ft. lbs.
5. Pull transaxle control cable gently away from cable housing, then torque coupling nut to 8 ft. lbs.
6. Ensure gear selector lever is still in Neutral position, then apply service brakes.
7. Attempt to start engine in all selector lever positions; ensure starting occurs only in Park or Neutral positions.
