1.
Remove caliper as outlined under REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.

Disassemble caliper in numbered sequence shown in Fig. 7, noting the following:
a. Use rear disc brake piston driver tool No. MB990652, or equivalent to remove piston from caliper assembly.
b. Remove piston seal with fingers. Do not use a screwdriver or other tool to prevent damage to cylinder inner surface.
c. Use a .75 inch diameter steel pipe to press the spring case into the caliper body, then remove snap ring from caliper body using suitable snap
ring pliers, Fig. 8.

Reverse numbered sequence shown in Fig. 7 when assembling caliper, noting the following:
a. Use a .75 inch diameter steel pipe to press the spring case into the caliper body, then install snap ring into caliper body using suitable snap ring
pliers. Attach snap ring to caliper body with opening facing the bleeder.
b. Push piston into caliper using piston driver tool and align groove as shown in Fig. 9.
c. When installing brake pads, pins in pad must be placed in grooves in piston.
