1.
Disconnect battery ground cable and drain cooling system.
2.
On models with power steering, remove power steering pump and bracket leaving hoses connected, and secure pump aside.
3.
On all models. remove timing belt as outlined under TIMING BELT.
4.
Remove alternator brace and disconnect hoses from water pump.
5.
Remove water pump bolts, noting length and position for installation, then remove water pump, gasket and O-ring.
6.
Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Torque bolts with head mark (4) to 9-11 ft. lbs.
b. Torque bolts with head mark (7) to 14-20 ft. lbs. Refer to Fig. 36, for bolt length and position.
