Canister Purge Solenoid: Testing and Inspection
Purge Control Solenoid Circuit
To test the Purge Control Solenoid Valve, located on the engine compartment firewall, proceed as follows.
COMPONENT TEST
1. Disconnect and mark the black and red-striped vacuum hoses from the solenoid.
2. Disconnect the electrical connector.

3. Connect a hand vacuum pump to the port that the red-stripped hose was disconnected and apply vaccum.

4. Check for vacuum leak to opposite port when voltage is supplied and not supplied as per Fig. 1
