Pinion Gap Test

Pinion Gap Adjustment
1.
Disconnect field coil wire from ``M'' terminal of magnetic switch, Fig. 5.
2.
Connect a 12 volt battery between ``S'' and ``M'' terminals. This test must be performed in less than 10 seconds to prevent coil from burning
out.
3.
Check pinion stopper clearance (pinion gap) with a suitable feeler gauge, Fig. 6.
4.
If pinion gap is not .02-.08 inch, adjust by adding or removing gaskets between magnetic switch and front bracket.
