PURPOSE This bulletin describes 3 diagnosis and repair procedures for replacing wind noise from the front door area on the 1989 Mirage. Before you
begin work on the vehicle, review all of the following instructions, and then perform the procedures in the exact order that they are presented.
DIAGNOSIS Three principal sources of door wind noise which account for most door wind noise conditions are described below. Road test the vehicle,
and use a modified technician's stethoscope to pinpoint the location of the noise (see the end of the bulletin for modifying a technician's stethoscope).
Wind Noise 1. Between front door run channel and window glass.
A.
Perform a visual inspection. Look closely to see if the door run channel (rubber moulding that the window glass rides in) is deformed by the
glass pinching it as the window rolls up. If the door run channel is disfigured, replace it (refer to REPAIR; 1. Replacing the run channel on
page 2).

If no door run channel deformation is found, tape up the door-to-window area as shown by the X's in figure 1, and road test the vehicle. If
wind noise is still coming from the run channel area, replace it with a new one (refer to REPAIR; 1. Replacing the run channel on page 2).

Perform a visual inspection. Push with your finger on the door run channel at the point shown in figure 2. If there is excessive clearance
between the delta cover and the door run channel, the run channel should be adjusted (refer to REPAIR; 2. Adjusting the run channel on page
2)
