1.

Raise and support vehicle and remove wheel.

2.

Loosen parking brake cable from inside vehicle then disconnect parking brake cable end on rear brake assembly.

3.

Remove lower lockpin.

4.

Lift caliper assembly and secure to frame using suitable wire.

5.

Remove outer shim and pad assembly.

6.

Remove pad clips ``C'' and ``B.''

7.

Measure hub torque with pad removed to be able to measure brake drag torque after installation, Fig. 5.

Attach pad clip to caliper support.

9.

Clean piston surface then use rear disc brake piston driver tool No. MB990652, or equivalent, thread piston into cylinder. Ensure that the
stopper grove of piston correctly fits to projection on pads rear surface.

10.

Install pads and shims onto caliper assembly.

11.

Lower caliper assembly and install lockpin. Ensure that piston boot does not become caught when lowering the caliper into place.

12.

With engine running, forcefully depress brake pedal five to six times and ensure that the stroke of the parking brake lever is .078 inch or less, Fig.

13.

Check brake drag torque as follows:
a. Start engine and hold brake pedal down for 5 seconds.
b. Stop engine and turn disc rotor froward 10 times.
c. If difference between brake drag torque and hub torque exceeds 1.4 ft. lbs. or less on hatchback models or 3 ft. lbs. or less on sedan models,

disassemble piston and clean piston. Check for corrosion, wear or damaged on brake caliper components.
