Suspension Strut
REMOVAL

The following procedure has been revised by a technical service bulletin.
When removing strut assembly refer to Fig. 3.
1.
Remove brake hose bracket attaching bolt, then the brake hose bracket.
2.
Disconnect strut assembly from knuckle arm.
3.
Remove dust cover from strut assembly.
4.
Hold piston rod with a suitable hex wrench, then remove strut assembly attaching nut using tool No. MB991036 or equivalent.
5.
Remove stopper and stopper rubber insulator, then remove strut assembly.
DISASSEMBLY
1.
Remove rubber insulator.
2.
Compress coil spring using spring compressor body tool No. MB991237 & arm set tool No. MB991238 or equivalent.
3.
Hold piston rod with suitable Hex wrench, then remove piston rod attaching nut using tool No. MB991036 or equivalent.
4.
Remove support, spring seat, coil spring and rubber bumper from strut.
5.
Remove bearing from support using a suitable brass rod.
INSPECTION
Check all strut assembly components for wear or damage and replace as necessary.
