Parking Brake System: Adjustments

1.

Pull parking brake lever with a force of approximately 45 lbs. and count number of clicks. Lever stroke should be 5-7 clicks.

If parking brake lever stroke is not within specifications, proceed as follows: 

a. Remove center console, then with parking brake lever released, loosen cable adjuster locknut.
b. After slacking off parking brake cable locknut, tighten cable adjuster locknut to take up slack in cable. Excessive pulling of cable may result

in failure of the automatic adjuster mechanism.

c. Pull parking brake lever repeatedly while depressing brake pedal until no more clicks are heard from the automatic adjuster mechanism.
d. Adjust parking brake lever to the specified stroke, then secure with locknut.
e. After adjusting lever stroke, raise and support rear of vehicle. With parking brake lever released, turn rear wheels to ensure rear brakes are

not dragging.
