Valve Clearance: Adjustments
Procedure

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove valve cover assembly as outlined under Cylinder Head Assembly.
3. Position No. 1 cylinder at top dead center on compression stroke.

4. Adjust valve clearance at points shown in Fig. 14 as follows:

a. Loosen adjusting screw locknut.
b. Using feeler gauge, adjust intake valve clearance to 0.008 inch and exhaust valve clearance to 0.012 inch by turning adjusting screw.
c. While holding adjusting screw, tighten adjusting screw locknut.

5. Rotate engine crankshaft clockwise one complete turn to position No.4 cylinder at top dead center on compression stroke.

6. Repeat Step 4 for points shown in Fig. 15.
7. Install valve cover.
