Install the small boot clamp so that it rests against the ridge on the small end of the boot as shown in the illustration. When installed properly, there
will be clearance at position A as illustrated.

Using the special tool, MB991561, crimp the small boot clamp.
NOTE:

Secure the drive axle shaft in an upright position and hold the clamp securely in the jaws of the tool.

Crimp the clamp firmly until the tool comes to rest against its clearance stop.

Check to make sure the crimped distance, marked (B) in the illustration, is between 2.4-2.8 mm.
NOTE:

If (B) is more than 2.8 mm, readjust the tool clearance opening dimension, (W) in Step 5, by using the following formula:
W = 5.5 - B
Example: When (B) = 2.9, then 5.5 - B(2.9) = W(2.6)
You would need to adjust the tool (W) dimension to 2.6 mm, then re-crimp the clamp.
