To prevent the crankshaft pulley from rotating, loop a used drive belt around the pulley and the air conditioning compressor. Secure the drive belt
with a wide zip tie as shown.
DO NOT use a strap wrench or special tool.
On models not equipped with air conditioning, install a 10 x 1.25 mm bolt (approximately 40 mm length) in the threaded hole in the engine block
at the location shown. Loop the used drive belt around the pulley and the bolt. Take care to prevent cracking the plastic front engine cover.

Using a click-type torque wrench set at 132 Nm (97 ft/lbs), tighten the crankshaft pulley bolt.
CAUTION
DO NOT USE AN IMPACT WRENCH TO TIGHTEN THE PULLEY BOLT.
a.
If the bolt does NOT move at 132 Nm (97 ft/lbs), it is sufficiently tight. Go to Step 6.
b.
If the bolt moves at 132 Nm (97 ft/lbs), there may be damage to related parts. Continue with Step c. below.
c.
Remove the crankshaft pulley bolt and the pulley.
d.
Inspect the pulley bolt threads and flange. If there are any indications of wear or damage, replace the bolt.
