LOOSE CRANKSHAFT PULLEY BOLT - SAFETY RECALL CAMPAIGN
Mitsubishi Motor Sales of America, INC. is voluntarily recalling certain 1999-2001 Mirage vehicles for a possible loose crankshaft pulley bolt.
Tighten the crankshaft pulley bolt as described in this bulletin.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Sufficient lubrication may not have been applied to the crankshaft pulley bolt during vehicle production. This could cause the bolt to loosen, resulting in
a loose crankshaft pulley and possible loss of power steering assist.
AFFECTED VEHICLES
1999-2001 Mirage models produced between 2/15/99 and 9/21/00 equipped with 1.5L engine.
CUSTOMER NOTIFICATION
A letter will be sent to all owners of affected vehicles telling them to bring their vehicle to their Mitsubishi Motors dealer to have the crankshaft pulley
bolt repaired. A copy of the customer notification letter is shown.
REQUIRED OPERATIONS
Before starting this campaign procedure, CHECK ON THE WARRANTY SUPERSCREEN to verify that the vehicle is an affected VIN for this
campaign and that this campaign procedure has not already been completed.
1.
Remove the front passenger tire and wheel assembly.
2.
Remove the undercover.
3.
Remove the generator drive belt and power steering drive belt.
