GRINDING NOISE WHEN SHIFTING FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR
PURPOSE
Some affected vehicles may experience a grinding noise when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear. The noise is most noticeable with cold engine and may fade
as the engine and transmission warm up. An improved 1st-2nd synchronizer hub with additional oil grooves is now available to eliminate this condition.
AFFECTED VEHICLES
1997-99 Mirage 1.8L engine models equipped with manual transmission produced before 1/23/99
PROCEDURE
Replace the 1st-2nd synchronizer hub with the new, improved hub listed in the PARTS INFORMATION section of this bulletin. Refer to Group 22 of
the appropriate service manual for replacement procedures.
