Canister Purge Solenoid: Description and Operation
PURPOSE
The evaporative emission purge solenoid is an ON/OFF type solenoid which controls the flow of stored fuel vapors into the intake system for
burning.
OPERATION
Battery positive voltage is supplied, by way of the MFI relay, to the evaporative emission purge solenoid. When the engine control module
switches on the ignition power transistor within the unit, current flows to the coil, and purge air is introduced.
