Idle Speed: Testing and Inspection
CURB IDLE SPEED CHECK
1. Before inspection, set the vehicle to the following condition.

Engine coolant temperature: 80-95°C (176-203°F)

Lights and all accessories: OFF

Transmission: Neutral (P for A/T)
2. Check the basic ignition timing.
Standard value: 5° ± 3° BTDC
3. After turning the ignition switch to OFF, connect a tachometer or the scan tool to the data link connector (white).
4. Start the engine and run it at idle.
5. Run the engine at idle for 2 minutes.
6. Check the curb idle speed.
Standard value: 700 ± 100 rpm
NOTE:
The idle speed is adjusted automatically by the Idle Air Control (IAC) system.
7. If there is a deviation from the standard value refer to Symptoms, and check the MFI components.
