Montero Sport ES 2WD L4-2.4L SOHC (1999)
STEP 1.
Check the circuit at ECM connector C-51.
1. Disconnect connector C-51 and measure at the harness side.
2. Turn the ignition switch "ON".
3. Check the condenser fan condition.

The fan should stop.
4. Measure voltage between terminal 21 and ground.

Voltage should be approximately 12 volts (battery positive voltage)
5. Connect a jumper cable between 21 and ground.

The fan should run.
If all checks above meet the specifications, go to STEP 2.
If any check above does not meet the specifications, check the harness wire and connector between the ECM and A/C condenser fan
motor relay, and repair or replace if necessary. If the harness wire and connector is in good condition, check the A/C condenser fan
circuit. Refer to Diagnosis. Then check that the malfunction is eliminated.
STEP 2.
Check harness connector C-51 at the ECM for damage.
If harness connector C-51 is not damaged, replace the ECM.
If harness connector C-51 is damaged, repair or replace it.
Refer to Harness Connector Inspection.
Then check that the malfunction is eliminated.
