Shifter A/T: Testing and Inspection
SELECTOR LEVER OPERATION CHECK
1. Pull the parking brake.
2. Move the selector lever to each position and check that the lever moves smoothly and is controlled. Check that the position indicator is correct.
3. Check that the selector lever can be moved to each position by button operation as shown in the illustration.
4. Start the engine and check that the vehicle moves forward when the selector lever is shifted from "N" position to "D" position and moves
backward when shifted to "R" position.
5. If there is a malfunction of the shift lever, adjust the control cable and selector lever sleeve. Check for worn shift lever assembly sliding part.
NOTE: To move the selector lever from the "P" position to any other position, first turn the ignition key to any position other than "LOCK"
(OFF) position and depress the brake pedal.
