Montero Sport LS 2WD V6-3.0L SOHC (1998)
Use the special tool to remove the pitman arm from the gear box assembly.
<B> Side Cover Removal (5)
1. Loosen the adjusting bolt jam nut and then turn the adjusting bolt counterclockwise slightly.
2. Screw in the adjusting bolt without turning the side cover, and then remove the side cover.
<C> Cross-Shaft Removal (10)
With the mainshaft and cross-shaft placed in the straight-ahead position, tap the bottom of the cross-shaft with a plastic hammer to take out the
cross-shaft together with the side cover.
<D> Rack Piston Removal (12)
CAUTION: Be careful not to lose the 26 balls inside the rack piston.
Remove the rack piston from the mainshaft by turning it counterclockwise.
<E> Jam Nut Removal (18)
Required Special Tools:
MB991367: Special Spanner.
MB991394: Pin Set or equivalents.
Use special tool MB991367 and MB991394 to remove the ball bearing.
